Founder - Rise After Debt

Why I Started Rise After Debt:

I founded Rise After Debt because I’ve been where you probably are—buried under debt, endless stress, collection notices, and eventually repossession. In 2018, I was working as a mechanic & went through a divorce that left me upside down financially leading to bankruptcy, but that wasn’t the end of my story—it was the beginning of a much better life. Within two years, I rebuilt my credit and bought a home for the first time. I also launched a now seven-figure company. All while in Chapter 13 Bankruptcy. Now, I’m here to help others find their way to freedom. If you’re overwhelmed by debt, facing bankruptcy, or already filed, remember: you’re not alone. It’s time to rise. Your new story starts today.

My Story:
In 2018, everything I’d worked for came crashing down. For 12 years, I had worked hard as a mechanic, building a life I thought was solid. The pay wasn’t bad and life seemed steady. Then, divorce shattered that illusion. I was left drowning in bills I could no longer pay. Bills, loans, and car payments we had shared were now entirely in my lap. Watching every paycheck vanish into a black hole of overdue payments, overdraft fees, and mounting debt. There were mornings I would wake up to see my bank account overdraft by thousands of dollars with hundreds in fees added on.

The breaking point came one quiet morning. Living in the country, I always kept the keys to my Jeep—the vehicle I depended on—inside the center console. I woke to the sound of its engine starting and rushed to the window. I saw it driving away, disappearing down the road. Most people might assume it was stolen. I didn’t. I knew it had been repossessed.

That moment broke something in me. I was numb. I had nothing left. No money. No car. I was barely holding onto a low cost rental home I couldn’t afford with the other bills. My phone rang nonstop—creditors calling/texting literally hundreds of times a day. The letters piled up. Liens were placed. The pressure was suffocating. It felt like living at the peak of a movie’s crescendo, with the sound growing louder and louder, except in my case, it never stopped.

I still joke that I hit rock bottom so hard I bounced. That’s because, in that moment of sheer chaos, I made a decision. That was the end of one chapter and I was going to rewrite the next one. Filing for Chapter 13 bankruptcy was the hardest choice I ever made, but it also saved my life. It wasn’t the end—it was the beginning of that next chapter. The relentless calls stopped. The letters stopped. And for the first time in years, I could breathe. That deafening crescendo finally went silent.

With that clarity, I made a promise to myself: I wouldn’t just survive—I would rise and thrive. I rebuilt my life piece by piece. Within two years, while still in Chapter 13 bankruptcy, I rebuilt my credit with a few trucks I had learned and achieved something I never thought possible: I bought the house I was renting. A few years later, I launched an LLC that grew to seven figures in revenue—and it’s still growing.

Bankruptcy wasn’t my downfall. It was my turning point. I took the shame and turned it into strength, the defeat and turned it into determination. Rock bottom became the foundation for a life I never thought possible. There’s no motivation like rock bottom to keep from wanting to go back down that path.

I look forward to seeing your journey and success. Your new life starts today! Let’s GO!
